Am I a better judge and jury than God?

2 Corinthians 5:19
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. (NIV)

God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. (MSG)

Thoughts…

Some scholars believe that Paul’s use of the word “reconciliation” came from the ancient secular world, where it was a diplomatic term referring to the harmony established between enemies by peace treaties. As “Christ’s ambassadors” (v. 20), Christians are sent to announce that God has established a “peace treaty” with his enemies. (Archeological Study Bible)

Do you ever find it easier to forgive others than yourself? Old tapes often play in my head reminding me of past mistakes. I feel ashamed then I get angry at myself. How could I be that stupid? What was I thinking? Why did I do that? I am not a good person. I don’t deserve love or forgiveness.

God reconciled my sins through Christ. He no longer counts my past against me.  Am I greater than God? Do I know better than God? Am I a better judge and jury than God?

If God has reconciled me to himself and doesn’t count my past against me, what gives me the right?
