Feelin’ Lucky

Scripture

Colossians 1:19-23

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Observation

luck

success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions.

Application

Luck has nothing to do with any of the gifts and blessings from God. He chose you. He loves you. He wants you. You are enough right where you stand. He sent His son to make a way to be with Him always. Hang on to your faith and hope though these trying times. He has not forgotten you. He is walking right next to you. Let Him carry you through the darkness. It may not have anything to do with luck, but it doesn’t mean you don’t get to feel like the luckiest person in the world😉

Prayer

Thank you Lord for picking me! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

Share Your Gift

Scripture

1 Timothy 4:14-16

Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Observation

G5922 χάρισμα charisma, n. [17] [√ 5897]. gracious gift

Application

Charles Schulz is my idol when it comes to art. I love his over simplistic lines put together to make funny and well loved characters simply known as the Peanuts. He had a true gift. He made every child (and adult) feel like they always mattered, they were enough, and their dreams could take them anywhere. Do you know what your gift means to others? Have you ever asked yourself what can you do for someone? In days like we are living now, this question is so important. Where can you use your gift today to make someone else feel loved?

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the many gifts you have given us. Let us remember to share our gifts with one another. Help us use them the way you planned all along and not keep them to ourselves. Together we can survive anything when we pull together and share our gifts. ~Amen

Four Leaf Hope

Scripture

Romans 5:3-5

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

Observation

G1828 ἐλπίς elpis, hope, expectation:

Application

Hope! As a child when summer came and I found myself surrounded by clovers, I couldn’t help looking for that four leafed one. The likelihood of finding one was zero to none, but I still held onto hope! Hope is that bright ray of light shining through the darkness that surrounds us. Without hope, we have nothing. Thank goodness God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. It is that same Holy Spirit that fills us with hope! So get out there and look for those four leaf clovers in your life!

Prayer

Lord thank you for the hope you have given to us. ~Amen

Girl Scout Cookiess

Scripture

Romans 12:10-13

Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Observation

G5082 σπουδή spoudē, hurry, haste; earnestness, diligence, zeal, eagerness

Application

Can you imagine if people flocked to God like they do Girl Scout Cookies? Seriously, the only war would be over milk and coffee! It is OK, that friends or family don’t understand your fervor. You still love them. Don’t get discouraged. Some of the most powerful words you can say to yourself is “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” If you are on a diet, you may want to repeat those words before you head to the store and see those determined, cute, little girls pushing those cookies outside on the sidewalk. 🤣😉

Prayer

Lord, Where you lead I will follow! ~Amen

Sow it Deep

Scripture

Matthew 24:11-14

and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Observation

Stand Firm G5702 ὑπομένω hypomenō to stay behind; to stand firm, endure, persevere

Application

Have you jumped onto a new fad? Maybe it was a diet, exercise, or a New Year’s resolution. You never see the results you expect so out the window it goes. Then you see those people who stick it out. They endurance their way through and they not only make progress, but they reach their goals. To be a a strong Christian, you have to work hard also. You must sow those seeds deep and cultivate them everyday. You don’t get to sit back and be the Sunday only Christian. If you hold strong, work hard, you will see the beautiful fruits emerge.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for giving me the strength I need to endure through everything life throws at me. ~Amen
