Enduring Love

Today’s Scripture…

Psalms 106:1

1 Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

Thoughts…

My husband and I have this saying in our marriage when we get angry, “I love you. I just don’t like you very much right now.” It reminds us that we always do and will love each other, even when we are angry or mad at each other.

Today’s verses remind us there is someone who will love us forever, no matter what. God is here for you 24-7. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing. He is waiting to hear your voice. There is nowhere you can hide from His love. No sin is too shameful that you can’t turn around and say I am sorry. He will be right there waiting with open arms.

You never have to “clean up” before meeting with God. His enduring love is there to clean you up. Come home. He loves you and likes you very much right now where you stand.

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for your enduring love. ~amen

Rejoice Always

Today’s Scripture…

1 Thessalonians 5:16-19

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not quench the Spirit.

Thoughts…

If you are always looking for the bad in everything, you will find it. If you want to make it through the dark times. Search for the good. Remember the happy moments. Look for the light and when you find it grab on tight.

Today’s verses were written for both when your life is running smoothly and when you are sitting in the darkest of pits. You should rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances. Yes, do this in ALL circumstance. Do it on the good days, so you don’t forget who is in control. Do it on the bad days, so you don’t forget who is in control.

Search for the light by keeping your focus on Christ Jesus and you will surely find Him.

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for being there in the good and bad. ~amen

Pause – Reflect – Share

Today’s Scripture…

Luke 22:17-19

17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

Thoughts…

Is communion just another tradition or ritual to you? I will admit, it sometimes becomes that way to me. It is very easy to fall into the routine of services.

Communion was never meant to be ceremonial It was meant to be part of your praise and worship. It is a time to pause-reflect-share.

-Pause from your racing thoughts of all the things you need to get done next week..

-Reflect on what Jesus did for you on the cross and continues to get you through each and every single day.

-Share with Jesus how much you love and appreciate Him. Thank Him for where you have been, where you are now, and where you want to grow.

Next time you are offered communion, don’t just go through the motions. Really take the time to pause-reflect-share.

Prayer…

Lord, I am sorry I sometimes just race through life and don’t stop to take the time to pause, reflect, and share. ~amen

The Rock

Today’s Scripture…

Hebrews 12:28

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

Thoughts…

Have you ever had your world rocked? I think it is safe to say 2020 has been an earthquake that started an avalanche that created a sinkhole! Honestly, it doesn’t take a pandemic to rock our world. Sometimes just getting out of bed late can send me over a cliff.

My point is here on Earth, we will always find trouble.  It is what we do with that trouble that matters. Keep your focus on the kingdom that is never shaken. It is our beacon in any storm it is always firm ground on which we can stand. It is the rock we can cling to always and forever.

When your world begins to rock remember God has a hold of you. He won’t let go. Just grab tight and put your feet on the Rock of Our Salvation.

Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
(My hope is built on nothing less)

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for being my rock to cling to when my world is sinking sand. ~amen

Devote Yourself to Prayer

Today’s Scripture…

Colossians 4:2, 5-6

2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Thoughts…

Some people make praying so complicated. Others are afraid to pray because they believe they don’t know how. So, let’s get one thing straight right now. Prayer is easy.

Praying correctly does not require you to bring out the chanting, the King James English or even be on your knees somewhere. There is no special positioning of your head or hands. You just need to talk. You can do it out loud or silently. Just talk to God.

God is always there waiting to hear from you. He just wants to chat. Tell Him you love Him, thank you and ask Him for Help. You don’t need to wait for some big thing in your life. Thank Him for the parking spot. Pray for dinner not to burn. It doesn’t matter just devote yourself to prayer.

When you pray for the small stuff you are prepared for the big stuff.

Prayer…

Lord, bless the one reading this today. ~amen

Just Dance

Today’s Scripture…

Psalms 95:1-2

1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

Thoughts…

At the risk of sounding like little miss sunshine, I want you to dig deep and find something good right now. I don’t care where you are physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Don’t forget I have been in that deep dark pit. Think of something that has brought you joy. Now tell yourself about it. Describe it. Hold on to it.

Next, thank God for it. You may have to whisper it under your breath at first, but say it over, and over. Let it grow. Soon you will see a glimmer of light. Keep going! Louder! Louder! Louder! Shout it out. No, really, I want you to Shout Out your thanks. Raise your arms. Let it FLY!.

Ready to add a little more. Put your favorite Praise and Worship music on and belt it out! Dance! Pull out that inner David.

Finally, enjoy the Light and just like your shampoo bottle says REPEAT!

Prayer…

Lord, Thank You!!!

Faith

Today’s Scripture…

Ephesians 2:8-10

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Thoughts…

Faith

1. complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

2. strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

In the dictionary, these two entries are meant to be two different ways to use the word faith. I don’t see them that way. As a matter of fact, I would put the two together. Faith is complete trust, confidence and belief in someone or something, like God, based on apprehension rather than proof.

My faith in God goes much farther than just belief. I have complete trust and confidence in Him. Although I need no proof in His existence, I see it everyday in His handiwork all around me. It is in the beauty of His creation, which includes you!

Prayer…

Lord, I love you and I have complete faith in You! ~amen

Take My Hand

Today’s Scripture…

Philippians 4:5-7

5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Thoughts…

I have a passion for people who suffer with PTSD, anxiety and depression. Those who have hit the bottom of the pit and think their only way out is suicide. My purpose is to sit with them in that pit and hold on to them. Let them know they are not alone. Together we can climb out. Together we can fight against the darkness. But, until they are ready to fight back, I will sit with them, so they are not alone.

My purpose in life comes from traveling that road and setting in that very pit myself. That pit is no joke. It is dark, lonely, and things fly at you, whisper to you. You wonder if you will get out this time. If you will ever see the sun again.

When I find myself falling down that hole, I cling to verses like these in Philippians. One way, to counter it is by repeating these verses until I believe them. Then light starts to flicker and grow. Before long, it bursts through that pit and shows me the way out.

It is so dark you may not see Him, but you are NEVER alone in that pit. Keep searching. The Lord is right there by your side. He will hang on to you when you can’t hang on anymore.

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for always hanging on to me! ~amen

Let Your Heart Live

Today’s Scripture…

Psalms 69:30-32

30 I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving 31 This will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hooves. 32 The poor will see and be glad—you who seek God, may your hearts live!

Thoughts

Do you want true happiness today? I have got the secret, ‘Let your heart live!’ How do you do that? Well let me tell you, it has nothing to do with getting anything. It has nothing to do with others doing or stop doing this to or for you. No, it has everything to do with you and one little choice. You simply choose to be thankful.

Yes, the key to true happiness is simply, You Choose It! Count your blessings! As Charles Dickens once said, “Reflect upon your present blessings—of which every man has many—not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”

We all go through hardships and trials, but if that is all we concentrate on we will never be happy. Today, choose to praise God in song and glorify him with thanksgiving and let your heart live!

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for the many blessings you have given me. ~amen

Constantly In Our Prayers

Today’s Scripture…

Romans 1:8-10a

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world. 9 God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you 10 in my prayers at all times;

Thoughts…

I come from a military family. WWII, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan, all saw my family members’ service. Even now, I have a son, and son-in-law serving overseas.

Many countries honor their veterans today. I believe the biggest honor we can pay them is constantly keeping them and their families in our daily prayers.

I know today’s verses are talking about Christians in Rome to whom Paul is writing. I think we should take the time to extend this thanks to God for those who have chosen to serve to restore and keep peace in our world. We should constantly remember them all in our prayers at all times.

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for each man and woman who stepped up to serve in the military. Please keep them and their families safe and provide for their needs. ~amen
