Psalms 56:3-4
3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. 4 In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
Do you have a go to verses? I mean those ones that might as well be tattooed on the back of your eyelids. Today’s verses are definitely on mine. As a matter of fact they must have been on David’s too because he said it twice in the same chapter!
Fear is a common emotion. I think it is probably even more common than love! I mean let’s get really, when you are falling in love with someone you also face the fear of rejection. Even once you find out the other person is in love with you, you face the fear of them leaving. You also daily face the fear of something happening to your loved ones. So, yep fear is a very common emotion!
Just because fear comes sniffing around all the time doesn’t mean you have to live in it. It doesn’t even mean you have to give into it. We have a God so much bigger than any of our fears. He is in control of everything, including the thing bringing you fear. It doesn’t mean the fear will always go away, but God is right there to walk through it with you. As my favorite Veggie Tales says, “God is bigger than the Boogieman and He is watching out for you and me!”
Lord thank You for always being bigger than any Boodie-man that invades my thoughts! ~amen
