Galatians 6:9-10
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
You may have heard Walt Disney was fired by a newspaper editor because “he lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” He went bankrupt several times before building Disneyland. It almost didn’t make it because the city of Anaheim rejected the idea saying it would only attract riffraff. However, did you know he refused to hire little known cartoonist Charles Schultz when he applied for a job?
After Fred Astaire’s first screen test, the memo from the testing director of MGM, dated 1933, read, “Can’t act. Can’t sing. Slightly bald. Can dance a little.” He kept that memo over the fire place in his Beverly Hills home. Astaire once observed that “when you’re experimenting, you have to try so many things before you choose what you want, that you may go days getting nothing but exhaustion.” But there is a reward for perseverance:
What do these guys have in common? They didn’t give up. Neither should we. We are going to get kicked when we are down. It is going to get tiresome and even exhausting. But we don’t give up! God sees you! Keep running the race. Never give up! Never surrender!
Lord give me strength to keep me running my race! ~amen
