Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
In youth group, we always called Philippians 4:8 the garbage in, garbage out verse. Basically, it means whatever you are filling your life with is what will come out of you. What are you reading, listening to or watching? What kind of people are you letting into your life.. If you surround yourself with negativity, no matter how brought your smile, it will start to dim.
There is no one who can live in a perfect little bubble. But if you find yourself drained ask yourself what has been going on around you. What are you allowing into your life. I have a friend who gave upthe news. I am very particular with whom I follow or allow to follow me on social media.
I only have one life to live. I don’t want to spend it stuck in a negative space. I need the strength to face the things I can’t control. So I am going to fill my cup with as much truth, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy thoughts as I can! What about you?
Lord, help me take the garbage out of my life and fill my cup with all the goodness you have to offer. ~amen
