Open My Mouth

Today’s Scripture…

Matthew 28:20

20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Thoughts…

Have you ever felt that tug to step out and talk to some? You know God wants you to say something. Then, the lump forms in your throat. Your stomach drops and the room begins to spin. All you can think is, “But Lord,!”Seriously! What if they make fun of you? Will they get mad at you?

I might be a little overdramatizing, but when it happens, I get nervous. Yes me! The woman that writes a bible study  blog gets nervous when God says speak. Sometimes I even get anxious hitting post on my blog.

This verse in Matthew sticks out to me though. We are all called to teach about God. The thing we must remember is we are not alone. When He calls you to reach out to someone, He is with you. He will give you the words you need. You just have to open your mouth.

Prayer…

Lord, help me open my mouth when you call me. ~amen

I Win!

Today’s Scripture…

Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,

39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thoughts…

I may be a little strange, and we can have that conversation any time. There are days when I am on top of the world and I could take on anything. Then, there are a few days where I honestly just want to run and hide from everything. I would guess most people go through both of these from time to time.

The reason I said I am strange is because I tend to go through a third kind of day. I get so exhausted, frustrated, and angry that I literally sit back and say bring it on world. What else you got? No matter what it is you aren’t going to break me. Nothing you can do to me will take my hope from me. Nothing you do will separate me from God.

I would love to tell you this comes from some deeper spiritual warrior mentality. It doesn’t. It comes from being done. I am done fighting. I am just going to sit and let the world takes its best punch because when it is done, I still belong to God and you know what that meand. I WIN!

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for always having my back and never letting me go! ~amen

Wait for it…NOW!!!!

Today’s Scripture…

Psalms 72:12

12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.

Thoughts…

I have always been taught there is no shame in asking for help. What if you don’t trust anyone to ask? What if there is no one around to ask? I have been in those situations before and felt all alone. Then I remembered, God is always there!

I just thought of something, Can you imagine what it was like while Jesus was about to be resurrected? God had to be holding His arm out to stop the angels. He had to of kept looking at the clock and breathing deep as He reminded everyone to wait for it…wait for it…NOW!!!!

Guess what! His is still in that business. He is poised and ready to hear me ask for help. He has got angels chomping at the bit to rescue me. We need to make our voices known and let His perfect will and timing wash over us with joy as we hear Him say, “Wait for it…wait for it…NOW!!!!”

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for always being there to rescue me in your perfect way and timing!

That’s My Kid!!!

Today’s Scripture…

Zphania 3:17

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Thoughts…

God is your biggest cheerleader. You know that parent in the stands wearing the jersey with the name and number of his or her kid? They shout at the top of their lungs, carry the pompoms, and cowbell. Let me tell you something…they have NOTHING on God. As a matter of fact, they are like quiet little church mice compared to His enthusiasm over you!

God is always there to cheer you on in life. He high fives you when you are doing great. He wipes you tears when you feel like a loser. He even, dusts you off and sends you back out into the game when you are ready.

No matter where you are in the game or how well the play went, look up in the stands. Your Father is there cheering you on!

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for always being there to cheer me on! ~amen

In the Name of Jesus

Today’s Scripture…

John 16:24

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Thoughts…

Asking in Jesus name at the end of a prayer is not a magic lamp. It is more like asking, “Give me your best Lord. Do what is right for me.” I am sure I am not the only one with a wish list of things I would love God to just hand over to me. The question is are they what is best for me.

I had a pastor who said, “Don’t go praying for a brand new Cadillac on a used Volkswagen budget. Would it be cool to own some vehicle you have always wanted? YES!!! However is it what is best for you? Can you afford the payments? Can you afford the insurance? Can you afford the gas???

It doesn’t hurt to ask God for things. He wants you to ask for your needs and let Him know your wants and desires. He also loves you enough to know what is best for you. He wants to hear you say, “Lord, this is what I would like, but what I want is  your best for me In Jesus’ Holy Precious Name. Amen”

Prayer…

Lord, I always want what is best for me and I know you give the best gifts always. Thank you! ~Amen

New Level, New Devil

Today’s Scripture…

Matthew 5:11-12

Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Thoughts…

Newsflash! Satan is not God. He is not a God. He cannot be everywhere all the time. Yes, he does have his little demonic minions, but they too are not gods. They cannot be everywhere all the time. So, I guess what I’m really saying is Satan has limited resources.

With his limits, why would he waste them on someone who is not following God;? If he already has that person in his pocket, what is the point?

These verses are reminding you, Satan has painted a target on you. The closer you get to God the bigger the target. As Joyce Meyers likes to say, “New level, new devil!” The only question is what are you going to do abut it? Will you curl up and hide? Will you give in and give up? Will you hold your ground, straighten that crown, and remind Satan whose child you are!

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for calling me your child. There is nothing Satan can come up with that you can’t handle! ~amen

I Am

Today’s Scripture…

Philippians 4:11-13

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Thoughts

When Mose asked God, “Who should I say sent me?” God’s answer was simply, “I am!” God’s name is I am and it is the perfect name. Whenever we need something God can fill it because He is the great I Am

 I Am….

unconditional love (Romans 8:38-39)

always with you (psalm 27:10)

your protector (Psalm 121)

your creator (Psalm 139)

yours and you are mine (Isaiah 43: 1 & 4)

here to prosper you (Jeremiah 29:11)

your purpose (Romans 8:28)

your strength (Philippians 4:13)

answer to prayer (Philippians 4:6-7)

your hope (Psalm 126:5)

No matter what situation you find yourself in today, God, I Am, will see you through. It may not be the way you expect, it may not be in your timing, but He will come through.

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for being my I Am. ~amen

Travelers Together

Today’s Scripture…

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Thoughts…

When we are going through trials, it isn’t easy to accept comfort and move on with our lives. We go through a grieving process. When we are finally ready, we hit acceptance. There is nothing wrong with not being OK. It is when we stay in that ‘Not OK’ and refuse to move on, we have a problem.

When that happens, seek out Godly counsel. God will put someone in your life that has walked that path and is ready to lead you through it. They no the rocks and dangerous curves. They will hold your hand and walk by your side.

When you find yourself on the other side, ask God to send you the next traveler. You know you survived that treacherous journey, now be there for someone else. Give purpose to your journey, if for no other reason than to tick Satan off and make God smile!

Prayer…

Lord, send me someone to comfort today. ~amen

Fear Managed

Today’s Scripture…

Hebrews 13:6 So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”

Thoughts…

Fear is so fake! Fake emotions acting real. However, saying you are fearless is even more fake! We all face fear. We are never fearless. Just because it is generally a fake emotion, it is an emotion nonetheless.

It is not a matter of not feeling the fear. It is a matter of what we do with that fear. Do you let it stop you dead in your tracks and you don’t move? Do you acknowledge it and make a decision based on it? Do you acknowledge it, bring it to God and ask Him what should your next steps be today? Wanna guess which one we should be doing?

Don’t let fear stop you from doing something. Take it to God and ask Him what you should do with it. Fear shouldn’t make us run from life. Fear should make us run to God!

Prayer…

Lord, thank you for letting me bring my fear to you instead of running from it. ~amen

Solace Not Solitude

Today’s Scripture…

Proverbs 18:1

Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.

Thoughts…

I am the first one to admit to being an isolator. I get drepressed or anxious and it is “Hello darkness, my old friend.” Sometimes, I need a few minutes to regroup. It is when I hunker down, even from God in that isolation that gets me in trouble.

We all need some alone time from the world. It is a great space to meet up with God and prayerfully ask for help. It is not a place to go and try and hide from Him. I don’t care what you have done or didn’t do. Hiding out in our sin is never productive.

Just remember, it is OK, to take a moment to pause. It is Ok, to find a place of solace to seek God. However, don’t let Satan try to trap you in a palace of solitude, no sound judgment will come from that place.

Prayer…

Lord, I want to thank you for providing a place for me to run and be alone with you, when I need it. ~amen.
