Psalms 56:3-4, 8-11
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll— are they not in your record? Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. Afraid: H3707 יָרֵא1 yārē’1, to be afraid, be frightened; to revere, respect; to be awesome, be dreadful, be feared; to frighten, terrify, intimidate; in some contexts fear relates to terror and fright, in other contexts fear relates to honor, respect and awe
Have you ever went to a drive-in movie? There is nothing like a good old fashioned black and white scary movie on a big screen to get your heart pumping. If it happens to be ‘Abbott & Costello Meets Frankenstein’ all the better! The fear on the screen isn’t real. Most of the fear we face in life isn’t real. We simply create things in our head that we think ‘might’ happen. If we step back for a moment, and realize there is NOTHING that our God can’t handle, we will realize there is NOTHING to fear. There is nothing ANY monster in our life, no matter what it looks like, can stand in the presence of our God!
