Sweat pea

Scripture

Psalms 27:1-4

The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

Observation

When it comes to floral language, the sweet pea flower is associated with delicate pleasure, blissful pleasure, departure, goodbye, thank you for the lovely time and adieu.

Application

Goodbye fear! At least that is what David was trying to convince himself in today’s scripture. These verses were not meant to tell you you will never be afraid. They were to remind you when you are afraid, you have a place to turn. It is not a sin to fear. You are ‘t being punished if you feel afraid. Even Jesus faced fear (Matt 26:36-56). He, like David, knew where to turn and whom to find comfort. The next time fear creeps in, find blissful pleasure in the fact that God is bigger than the Boogie man and bid it adieu.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for being my shelter of peace and safety when fear tries to overcome me. ~amen
